Subscribing to Journal RSS Feeds: ScienceDirect

Creating alerts for new articles in specific journals

  1. Access ScienceDirect
  2. Along the top menu bar, click Browse

  3. The default list presented is alphabetical; however, one can also browse by subject by clicking the option in the left sidebar located under Browse

  4. Upon locating a journal to subscribe to, look for the RSS icon next to its title, labelled Article Feed, if it is present, click it; if not, there is no RSS feed available for the contents of this journal

  5. In the popup that opens, copy the RSS feed URL

  6. Follow the instructions under Adding a Subscription to an RSS Reader to complete the process of subscribing to the feed.

Note: do not try to set up RSS Subscriptions while using a WebKit based browser such as Google Chrome or Safari

Creating an RSS Feed for Search Results

  1. Access ScienceDirect
  2. To access the Advanced Search Screen, click on the word Search on the green bar along the top of the screen

  3. In the Advanced Search Screen, utilize keywords, limiters, etc. to create a search to which you would like to receive any updated results

  4. In the green bar that appears on the results screen, click the link for the RSS feed

  5. From the popup that opens, copy the RSS Feed URL

  6. Follow the instructions under Adding a Subscription to an RSS Reader to complete the process of subscribing to the feed.
