Harvard Citation Style (Author-Date Style): Basic Examples

This Guide is a brief introduction to the Harvard Citation Style.

Basic Harvard Citation Style

Names - Author's initials are used for their first name. If theauthor has more than one initial, do not use spaces between them.  All authors are listed by last name then first initial separated by commas.

Titles - Use sentence-like capitalization.  Place article or chapter titles within single quotation marks.  Capitalize book and journal titles.

Dates - Use year of publication.  For dates viewed, use date month year with no punctuation.
