Introduction
In recent years, access to sources of statistics, with which to compare various nations, has grown tremendously. This guide presents a selection of subscription sources provided by the Sawyer Library, and open data sources available to the public.
In the interest of being concise, for any given database illustrated in the following tabs, only a small sample is given of the various types of data, and ways to access it.
The uses for international comparative statistics apply to many disiciplines: business students may need to compare the economies of potential new markets, and social science students may need to find indicators of the status of health, poverty, and migration, across nations.
International Organizations: Source of Comparative Statistics
In the spirit of 'open data,' more and more organizations are making their data publicly available. Below is a small sample of what exists:

- UNCTAD: United Nations Conference on Trade and Development"UNCTAD compiles, validates and processes a wide range of data collected from national and international sources. Most of the time series cover long periods, with some dating back to 1948, for almost all economies of the world."
