Accessing Online Resources
To access the Mildred F. Sawyer Library databases, enter the Library Home Page, and select Find Databases. Choose a database. If you are off-campus, you will be asked to enter your login information before proceeding to the database.
To locate a specific online journal, type the journal title in the eJournals tab.

- Sage Journals OnlineProvides online access to the full-text Sage research journals (including deep backfiles) in specific fields. Includes 100 sociology and sociology-related journals.
- Academic Search Complete This link opens in a new windowA full-text database with more than 5,500 full-text periodicals, including more than 4,600 peer-reviewed journals. Covers all academic subjects.
- Criminal Justice Abstracts with Fulltext (1968+)Provides indexing and abstracting of international journals, books, reports, dissertations, and unpublished papers.
- JSTORA full-text collection of back issues of core scholarly journals, covering specific subject areas. Search by category or within a particular journal.
- Project MuseProvides full-text scholarly journals of the Johns Hopkins University Press and its publishing partners.
- CQ Researcher This link opens in a new windowPublished by CQ Press, CQ Researcher provides 12,000-word reports 44 times a year, covering a single theme in each issue. Each report offers in-depth, non-biased coverage of political and social issues in fields, including homelessness, welfare, equal employment & discrimination, sexual harassment, child care, human rights, social movements, and more.
- Wiley Online LibraryContains full-text research journals, including over 80 titles that cover Sociology, Social Policy, Gender, Family Studies, and Social Work. Includes Blackwell publications.
- Blackwell Encyclopedia of SociologyThis current (2007) encyclopedia is based on a companion print resource of 11 volumes. The electronic version has all of the over 1800 entries in the paper set, plus more. Updated and searchable. Accessible through the Suffolk University Library Catalog.
- Global Issues in ContextProvides global perspectives on issues of international importance and current world events and topics in the news related to these issues.
- Opposing ViewpointsA pro-con database based on the social issues series published by Greenhaven Press. Includes an online library of current event topics and provides facts, as well as the arguments from both a topic's proponents and detractors.
- PsycArticles (1988+)Searchable full-text articles from 42 journals published by the APA and allied organizations.
- PsycINFO (1887+)More than one million citations and abstracts to journal articles, book chapters, books, and dissertations.
- Academic OneFile (InfoTrac) (1980+)Provides indexing, abstracting, and full-text coverage of over 8,000 journals covering every academic field.
- International Encyclopedia of Social and Behavioral Science 2d Ed.Searchable encyclopedia covering the social and behavioral sciences. Topics covered include aging, education, social movements, sociology, race and ethnic relations, and much more.

- Web of Knowledge (Social Science Citation Index)Web of Knowledge is a citation indexing and search tool for the social sciences provided by Thomson Reuters. It provides abstracts and the tools to, analyze citations.
