Sawyer Library Services During Covid-19: Home

This guide contains the most current information on the Sawyer Library's services and building operations.

Welcome

With the recent lifting of many pandemic-related restrictions in Massachusetts, and in keeping with CDC, Commonwealth and city of Boston guidelines, the Sawyer Library will be able to change or eliminate many of the temporary policies put into place at Suffolk during the pandemic. Virtual services—including research help, class support, and access to electronic resources—continue to be available for all users.

The library staff looks forward to working with you whether it’s on campus or from a distance.  We thank you for your patience as we work to restore seating, technology, and other services to pre-pandemic levels.

Updates to Sawyer Library Services and Facilities

In light of the recent changes to pandemic-related restrictions, the Sawyer Library has been able to make the following changes to library operations:

  • Face Coverings: Face coverings are no longer required for vaccinated individuals on our campus, except in locations where wearing masks continue to be required under federal, state or local law – for example, in health care facilities, including the COVID-19 testing center in 1 Court Street. Those who are not vaccinated are encouraged to continue wearing masks. All students and employees are welcome to wear masks if they are most comfortable doing so.
  • Capacity Limits and Social Distancing: Room capacity limits have been returned to the identified limits prior to the pandemic. Social distancing requirements have been lifted in all campus spaces with the exception of the COVID-19 testing center in 1 Court Street. Group Study Rooms will remain closed for the time being.
  • Reservations and Time Limits: Reservations are no longer required for seats, printing, or computer use. Additionally, patrons may be in the library for a long as they wish during regular library hours.
  • Eating and Drinking: Patrons are now allowed to eat and drink in the library.
  • Hand Sanitizer and Cleaning Wipes: Hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes will be available for library patron use until further notice.
