Information Literacy content in Canvas

Directs faculty to the Credo InfoLit content available in Canvas.

What is Credo InfoLit?

Credo InfoLit provides high-quality, standards-aligned instructional materials on information literacy and critical thinking skills. Additionally, Credo offers tested assessments and a robust platform to launch tailored content to our students. The InfoLit content applies to a variety of experience levels, covering introductory themes such as "Getting Started with Research" and more advanced themes like "Visual and Quantitative Literacy". Topics include peer-review, primary vs secondary vs tertiary information, how to effectively read scholarly materials, building powerful searches, why one cites information in the academic context, and many more!

How can I use the Credo InfoLit Content?

All instructors are empowered to take advantage of Credo InfoLit content in your Canvas courses.

To add content to your course:

  1. Create a Module to hold the InfoLit content
    1. Alternately, you can add InfoLit content to a pre-existing Module
  2.  Add an item to the desired Module by clicking on the plus symbol
  3. Choose "External Tool" from the drop-down menu
  4. Select "Credo InfoLit Core LTI 1.3" from the list of tools
  5. Check the box next to the content or assessment portion(s) you would like to include to your course
  6. Click "Submit"
  7. Canvas will load the content into the Module
  8. Be sure to publish the module and contents so your students can see it
