- Academic Search Complete This link opens in a new windowThis is a large, scholarly, multi-disciplinary full-text database, with more than 8,500 full-text periodicals. To find articles, try entering the name of the graphic novel and the name of the author, e.g. Satrapi AND Persepolis.
Use our library databases to find journal, magazine, and newspaper articles about a graphic novel. You will more easily find articles about well-known or acclaimed graphic novels but in any case, try searching in more than one database. Here are some of the databases you may find useful:

- MasterFILE Premier This link opens in a new windowThis database is produced by the same publisher that produces Academic Search Complete. This is a smaller database, but is also multi-disciplinary and may cover some sources not covered by Academic Search Complete.
- Project MusePublished by Johns Hopkins University Press, this small but high-quality database includes the full text of over 400 scholarly journals. Project MUSE covers the fields of literature and criticism, history, the visual and performing arts, cultural studies, education, political science, gender studies, and many others.
- JSTORThis estimable database includes the back files of over 400 core scholarly journals that have been digitized but it is not a good source for articles published within the last couple of years.
- Art & Architecture Complete This link opens in a new windowThis database has a small but high-quality collection of articles on graphic novels including the full-text of the journals Studies in Comics and Journal of Graphic Novels & Comics which are not present in any of our other databases.
- The Boston Globe (1977 to date)1977 to 1979 available in microfilm, 1980-Present full-text online in Proquest databases. Current daily print newspaper issues also available in the Sawyer Library.
