Information Literacy Intro for the Sciences

Directions for faculty to access Credo Information Literacy instruction and assessment in Canvas.

Why Credo InfoLit?

Office of Institutional Research and Assessment, Shared Curriculum Assessment Committee, and Mildred F. Sawyer Library have partnered with Credo InfoLit to address formal information literacy assessment at Suffolk University. Our Gen-ed STE students are required to participate in pre and post assessments to achieve our accreditation responsibilities.

The selected modules present critical skills and concepts most relevant to the sciences. Topics include an overview of the concepts of peer-review, primary vs secondary vs tertiary information, and how to effectively read scholarly materials. The content also covers information on building powerful searches as well as why one cites information in the academic context.

Find shared "Science InfoLit" module in Canvas

Previously, Credo content was provided through this guide. As of Fall 2023 there is a much more seamless experience available for both professors and students, via the Canvas implementation. This implementation allows for quick delivery and integration of the Information Literacy content to your course.

  • You should see the Science InfoLit module in your "Shared Content" page in Canvas.
  • Import the content to your Gen-Ed STE course
  • Ensure it has been published so students can access the content.
  • You should be able to view completed assessment grades in your Canvas gradebook.

If you have any questions, email Sarah Griffis, or email the library department.
