Accounting: Find Company Financial Information: Filings at the SEC: EDGAR Database

The Security and Exchange Commission's EDGAR database:
"All companies, foreign and domestic, are required to file registration statements, periodic reports, and other forms electronically through EDGAR. Anyone can access and download this information for free. Here you'll find links to a complete list of filings available through EDGAR and instructions for searching the EDGAR database."

The EDGAR database provides public access to over 21 million SEC filings. "Since 1934, the SEC has required disclosure in forms and documents. In 1984, EDGAR began collecting electronic documents to help investors get information." The most recent update to the SEC's collection system requires data disclosure as well.

Most users will be interested in searching for a specific company, to gain access to 10-K (annual), 10-Q (quarterly), 8-K (report on significant events), and other reports filed with the SEC.
