Continuity of Learning Services at Sawyer library: Borrowing and Returning Items

This guide provides information about the Library's online services for faculty, staff and students during the Covid-19 disruptions.

Updates to Services and Equipment

Due to the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions, the Library will now be able to provide access to all the items and equipment usually loaned out. 

  • Book Lending: Patrons may browse the stacks and borrow items. The library will continue to provide access to books for off-campus users.
  • Laptops: Laptop computers will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for in-library use. They cannot leave the library. Laptops will be cleaned between uses. 
  • Scanning: The photocopiers located on the 3rd and 4th floors are available for scanning to a personal USB Drive. Patrons can also use their phones to scan items. Here are a few applications recommended by our IT Department:
  • Photocopying: The photocopiers located on the 3rd and 4th floors are available for photocopying. To print copies, users must have a RAM card. Otherwise, can use the copier to scan to a personal USB drive.
  • Computers, Printing, and Equipment: Computer and printing stations are currently available at the desktop computers on the main floor of the Sawyer Library.  Additional desktop computer and printers will become available throughout the summer.  Equipment such as chargers and headphones will also become available for in-library use. 

Returning and Renewing Items

Returning Items:

  • On CampusPatrons can return items to the Circulation Desk or via the Sawyer Library's book drop located outside the Library’s main entrance. Note, it might take a day or two for your library account to reflect the status of a returned item.
  • From Off-Campus: Mail items to Mildred F. Sawyer Library, Suffolk University, 73 Tremont Street, Boston MA 02108

Renewing Items: To renew items, please log into your library account using your full name and Suffolk ID number.  You may also call the Circulation Desk at 617-573-8535.
