Continuity of Learning Services at Sawyer library: Instruction Services

This guide provides information about the Library's online services for faculty, staff and students during the Covid-19 disruptions.

Sawyer Library Instruction Services

Librarians at Sawyer Library are available to teach Library Instruction Sessions and will support your class in any way we can. Currently, we offer in-person and virtual instruction options:

In-Person Session: In-person sessions generally take place in the library's Instruction Room, #3021, during the class' normal meeting time. However, we can also meet in your classroom space to deliver a library tutorial. Please allow at least 2 weeks' notice when requesting an in-person session, as your preferred date may book up fast!

Synchronous Zoom Session: If you are using Zoom to host your classes online, you can send us an invitation to the session and we can share our screen and give the instruction to your class online synchronously.

Asynchronous Zoom Session: If you are using Zoom, you and a Reference Librarian can schedule a Zoom meeting and record the instruction session. You could then upload/send the video recording to your students who could watch the session asynchronously.

Course Specific Guide: We can create an online Library Guide tailor-made for your class. This option would be completely handled on our end and we would provide you with a finished link.

Please note that no matter what option you choose we are available through email for you and your students. Please reach out to us at sawlib@suffolk.edu for questions or concerns.

Zoom Sessions

This solution provides the greatest flexibility for students to view the session at their best opportunity. A Zoom meeting can be initiated by either the requesting professor or the librarian, and a permanent file is created with links to share directly with your students or embed into your Blackboard course page.

Synchronous Zoom sessions are available for those classes where the students meet online at the designated class time.
